It was actually created by Matthew Gloag's company when asked to deliver wine to a royal banquet. Queen Victoria also took part. Matthew Gloag's son William improved the mix called The Grouse and in 1905 renamed it The Famous Grouse. About eighty years later, the company received a Royal Warrant. This mixture is very high quality compared to the price and also fits beautifully into mixed drinks with whiskey. She is excellent.
